First thing, so that you're not surprised when you see this book; in person, it's a little bit darker than the cover image above makes it look, I assume because of the recycled board.
Second thing; it's brilliant. That acorn you can see on the cover is actually on the next page, visible through a cut out. I've seen kids go nuts for that kind of cut out shape, really enjoying reading the book and guessing what will be on the next page. Each two pages has a cut out, positioned so they're fun to look through whether you're looking forward or back. I really admire the design here, it must be painstaking to get it right and make it look so effortless!
My favourite is the last spread, but there's plenty to look at on every spread, details to talk about with your child. I love the diamond hidden underground! This is going to be a great favourite with children. Brilliant.
