The Egyptians by Jonny Marx and Chaaya Prabhat

How did the Egyptians remove a mummy's brain?
How much solid gold was used to make Tutankhamun's sarcophagus?
Was the world's first pop star an Egyptian choral singer?

Readers can discover the truth behind some of the most incredible ancient Egyptian stories and superstitions and unearth the most fascinating aspects of an ancient culture in this immersive book. With flaps to lift on every page, there's plenty of history to uncover!

You can't see it on this picture, but the cover of this book has amazing gold highlights and colours. It really shimmers when you move it, it's so beautiful. I love how much work has gone into this.

This is a fabulous information book for someone who's just started reading. It's wonderfully sturdy, with six spreads. Each has loads of flaps to lift - some of the flaps have flaps of their own! Everything is really colourful and a little bit cartoony without being completely unnatural. It covers the pyramids, mummies, the gods, life on the Nile and daily life, with all kinds of other things slotted in and added around the edges. It's all very child friendly and a really good basic grounding.

This is a gorgeous book. A lot of work has gone into it and it really shows. This is going to do really well.

The Egyptians publishes on 1st October, 2020.
