Even if we Break by Marieke Nijkamp

FIVE friends go to a cabin.
FOUR of them are hiding secrets.
THREE years of history bind them.
TWO are doomed from the start.
ONE person wants to end this.
NO ONE IS SAFE.

Are you ready to play?

An interesting one, this. Reminiscent of old Point Horror, or Christopher Pike before he went metaphysical. An isolated location, a small and growing smaller group, darkness and scary noises...yeah, it's Point Horror.

It's an interesting read, and I didn't guess who the bad guy was. However, there's little explanation given for anything; I was well into the story before I figured out that Finn wasn't on crutches because of an accident, he was always on them for some unknown reason. His trans status is similarly unexplained until quite a long way into the story.

Because the POVs are shared, and we spend less time with some characters than others, we don't get to know all of them as well as I'd like. Overall a good read, but not great.

Even if we Break publishes on the 15th September, 2020.
