Welcome to the blog tour! This fabulous chapter series has just published its second book, and I'm here to cheer about it a little bit.
I hadn't read this series before, so I didn't know what to expect when I came into it. What I got was something a little bit Heidi, a little bit Wind in the Willows, and very much its own thing. Rosa moves to the mountains to live with her grandmother and discovers a world where everything relies on everything else, from the tiniest insect to the tallest tree in the forest.
The talking animals took me by surprise at first...I hadn't realised it was that kind of story...but they quickly became very natural and part of everything. I love the map in each book and found myself tracing their various journeys (and wondering what might happen in future novels, in so far unexplored areas!)
The stories themselves are exciting and well pitched to children who are starting to read on their own. The illustrations (which are amazing) break up the text nicely, and the story never drags, so children will want to keep reading and find out what happens next. I think Stick is my favourite character, but there are plenty of challengers for the role!
I really enjoyed this and I'm glad I got to be on the tour for these fun books. Bring on the next one!
