Puffling and the Egg by Erika McGann and Gerry Daly

When Puffling finds a lost egg on Skellig Michael, she sets off to return the egg to its nest!
She travels all over the island searching the owner of this stray egg, meeting lots of new friends along the way ... but who lost this mystery egg? And what kind of baby animal is going to hatch from it?

Apparently I didn't review Where are you, Puffling? which is a travesty, and I'll have to try and fix that some time. However, I did love it, and the sequel is just as good. Puffling wakes up and finds an egg outside her burrow. She decides she needs to find the parents, but the wind has other ideas!

Erika and Gerry are becoming the Donaldson and Sheffler of Irish picture books. This is another fantastic look at the beautiful Skellig islands and the animals and plant life that flourish there, aided by the information panels inside the back cover. I loved looking through the illustrations for all the little hidden details. The story is very sweet as well, with Puffling determined to get the egg safely home.

This is a great read and will go really well for Christmas.

I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
