When I say this is like a Hallmark movie in novel form, I don't want you to misunderstand me. We all like to make fun of those movies, but there's something comforting about them, isn't there? Come on, admit it. You like them a bit.
This book is exactly that feeling, in book form. It's fairly predictable in the main (one minor character did surprise me in a good way) but this isn't the kind of book you read for surprises, it's the kind you read to be swept away by the descriptions. Lindsey does amazing work; I don't know if she actually saw super luxurious yauchts and balls, but it absoloutely reads like she did. The super rich really are a completely different species.
I do wish that Evan's parentage had been addressed a little bit more. It's a fairly big point, after all, but maybe they talked about it off screen. I loved the incorporation of tarot, and that the meanings were actually accurate! That doesn't often happen, they're usually twisted to fit the plot.
This was a great, light read, and I can't wait to see the movie version. There's got to be one coming, right?
