Evie's Christmas Wishes by Siobhan Parkinson and Shannon Bergin

Christmas is coming and Evie is getting excited! There’s lots to be done to prepare for the big day. She helps her mammy and daddy to make the pudding, ice the cake, and decorate the tree, and rehearses with her class for the Nativity play. As she partakes in all the festive fun, she makes a series of wishes, which suddenly begin to come true: just not in the way she expects!

There are so many amazing traditions associated with Christmas in Ireland, and it's rare to find a book that features them. The story is cute in this, but it's the illustrations that stole the show for me. The colours are rich and amazing, it looks like Ireland at Christmas, and there's so much detail - the tablecloth in Evie's kitchen is embroidered!

I skimmed over the story, but it is fantastic as well. Evie goes through all the things we remember from childhood; the school play, a visit to the panto, stirring the pudding and setting up the Christmas tree at home. There's a crib, an advent calendar...it's like a checklist of the best moments of Christmas. This is a fantastic read.

I can't wait to see this in person and start selling it. Absolutely gorgeous.

The publisher has created some lovely colouring sheets for you to download and enjoy!

Evie's Christmas Wishes publishes on the 31st of October, 2021. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
