Sally Go Round the Stars by Sarah Webb, Claire Ranson and Steve McCarthy

A marvellous collection of Irish rhymes to delight any child, beautifully illustrated in this attractive board book.

Sally Go Round the Stars, in its first format, was an absolutely beautiful book, and this version, although smaller, is no less lovely. The editors have chosen a selection of the rhymes from the original book to reprint, illustrations and all, in this board book that's the perfect size for small hands and a great match for O'Brien's other toddler books.

The pages are sturdy and the whole thing is well put together. The cartoony illustrations go perfect with the rhymes. I do have to say, though, I learned it as 'There was an OLD man called Michael Finnegan' and I stumbled over the line when I realised they didn't have the old in there!

This is definitely a book to come back to again and again, a great introduction to Ireland's wonderful heritage of words.
