O'Brien are still at it! Here's another two upcoming titles that I'm very excited to see on the shelves. These are going to do really well for Christmas!
A brave little puffling lives on Skellig Michael.
It’s a windy, stormy day – a perfect day for a wild adventure.
But she ends up far from home!
Can her new animal friends help her find her way back?
Erica and Gerry's Puffling is one of the best picture book series out there, and this new entry meets the bar they've set. Puffling wants to go on an adventure, but bad weather and a misunderstanding leaves her a long way from home. Luckily, her habit of making friends everywhere stands her in good stead! This is a lovely addition to the series; we meet some interesting new animals and follow Puffling through a new adventure. I loved the artwork, really stormy and atmospheric!
Niamh lives in the magical land of Tír na nÓg, where no one ever grows old or feels sad.
She invites Oisín to join her and they are happy until he misses his home in the human world.
When sadness strikes, Niamh learns the strength and beauty of the human heart.
A beautiful retelling of a beloved Irish legend.
Two of O'Brien's stars, Erica McGann and Conor Busuttil, have come together to create this lovely new book. We all know the story of Oisin and Tir na nÓg - but this is Niamh and Tir na nÓg, the first version I've ever seen from Niamh's point of view, which feels like such an obvious oversight! Conor's artwork is amazing, slightly cartoony in the best way and full of detail. I've loved his other books but this might be his best yet! I'm sure I'm missing loads, but I do love the carving on the stone pillar - vibrant and new when Niamh comes for Oisin, overgrown and rubbed down when he returns.
This is a fabulous addition to O'Brien's list of folklore inspired titles, and I can't wait to see what else this partnership comes up with.
These titles both publish on the 29th of September, 2025. I received free copies and am giving honest reviews.
