Gill picture books

This week we have two upcoming picture books from Gill Books! These are perfect for the holiday series. Let's dive in!

Marsha the megalosaurus lives all alone on a tiny island. She loves it there, but one day she notices a very funny feeling - could she be ... lonely?

When she spots a small scelidosaurus, Moss, on the opposite side of the swamp, she decides to make friends with him.

But however hard she tries, Marsha just keeps scaring Moss away - will she be a lonely only dinosaur for ever?

Based on actual fossils found in Ireland, this colourful story shows how first impressions don't always stick and how people can try to make better impressions. I love the bright, blocky illustrations - perfect for this age group. This will be a great book to read with any child struggling to make friends.

All little fairies are born with magic, and they each have a very special talent. Holly's talent is looking after animals, while Emme's is knowing when someone needs cheering up. But Jess hasn't worked out what her talent is just yet, and now she's worried she'll be the only fairy in school without one!

Can her sisters - and neighbour Mrs Doggy-Waggy - help Jess find her magic?

Featuring the characters from Lucy's much loved Fairies series, but aimed at a younger audience, this is the second book putting Jess in the spotlight. Beautiful colours and a fantastic story will make this a favourite in many households this year. The message not to give up when things don't go your way is a great one!

Both of these titles publish on the 11th of September 2025. I received free copies and am giving honest reviews.
