Into the Witchwood by Méabh McDonnell

Never, ever, set foot inside the Witchwood

Surrounding Rowan’s home is the dark, dangerous Witchwood. At the heart of it, sitting at the bottom of an ancient well, is a powerful Witch.

Six months ago, Rowan’s mother went into the woods – and never came back out. Nothing has been the same ever since. She fights with her dad and her little sister, and her Nana won’t even speak to her. There’s only one thing that can fix it; Rowan needs to bring her mum home.

There’s magic lurking in the shadows. Watching her. Can Rowan enter the Witchwood and save her mum?

After all, she’s a witch too...

First of all, I would like a Tali please.

Second of all, what an amazing read! Full of heart and magic, and moments that don't seem important but add up at the end. (That's how you foreshadow!) There's a wonderful Labyrinth feeling to a lot of this, especially one scene I won't spoil but if you've read it, you know...

The book doesn't say whether this is the first of a series or just a stand alone, but I very much hope it's a series. I feel like we're just scratching the surface of what Rowan, Lila and her friends are capable of, and I would love to read more about them exploring and expanding their abilities. Just fantastic.

Into the Witchwood publishes on the 25th of March, 2024. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
