Charlotte hates the holidays. As a former child actress, she starred in a modern classic of a holiday movie, and its fans won’t let her move on. Their family business—and the funds to keep their historic house running—relies on holiday cheer, and Graham knows a visit from a holiday star would bring in more visitors.

Now an illustrator, Charlotte accepts a commission illustrating iconic holiday movie scenes in London and its environs. Graham offers to help escort her, as long as she’ll commit to an art workshop at Eden Priory. But as Charlotte’s chaotic family holiday goes awry, she begins spending more time scouting locations with Graham. Charlotte may not love Christmas, but is it so bad if you’re also falling in love?

The setting of London during the holidays adds a magical feel, with vivid descriptions of the festive atmosphere. Charlotte, Graham and their friends visit several locations around London, both iconic and fictional, and the descriptions are amazing, bringing each and every place to life. Graham is a charming love interest, and their chemistry grows naturally throughout the story.

The book blends humor with heartfelt moments, making it an enjoyable read for the holiday season. I loved the many references to Christmas movies and stories, both real and fictional. Charlotte's movie sounded a bit like Love Actually, while also referencing Hallmark movies and the trend of "undercover royalty from a tiny European country," which are a weakness of mine! Several characters noted the Christmas movie tropes Charlotte was literally experiencing, adding a lovely meta note to the story. Themes of family, self-discovery, and the meaning of the holidays are woven throughout the narrative. The pacing is well done, with engaging plot twists that keep the reader invested.

Overall, this rom-com is a delightful escape into the festive spirit, perfect for anyone looking to embrace the magic of the holidays—especially if they enjoy a good dose of holiday movie references!
