Dinosaur Pie by Jen Wallace

Rory is having a weird week. A really weird week.

He has been turned into a ridiculous, small, feathered dinosaur. Pretty awkward.

Rory can’t use a human toilet. He can’t hold a video game controller in his little dino claws. His breath smells really bad. And his new carnivore body can’t stop craving sausages.

Rory finally gets his friends to take his embarrassing situation seriously, and together they embark on Operation Make Rory Human Again. But it's not easy.

Will Rory be stuck as a dinosaur forever?

What a hilarious read this is! I don't want to give away too much, as the surprises as you read are amazing, but if I read a funnier book this year I'll be very surprised. A simple meal of dinosaur pie spins out of control as the effects linger on poor Rory. He needs his friends, some strangers - maybe even some enemies?

The illustrations are fantastic. Again, I don't want to spoil anything, but my favourite illustration is small and curled up. They're all amazing, though, and they really help to bring the story to life. Kids will love poring over them to pick out details and bits of the storyline.

This is a fantastic, really funny read that I enjoyed so much, and I hope I'll get to read more by the author in the future.

Dinosaur Pie publishes on the 18th of April, 2024. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
