Ok, I admit it; I didn't read One of Us is Next. I adored Lying, and there's no particular reason I didn't read Next; I just never got to it. So when I started Back, I was a bit unsure whether I'd be able to follow anything. It didn't help that it's about six years since Lying came out, and while I remembered the highlights and the twist a lot of the details are lost.
I needn't have worried. Although I was confused about some of the new characters, Karen managed to explain them all without making it seem like an info dump. She hasn't lost her touch with the thriller aspects either; I literally had no idea who to suspect, other than everybody, and the final reveal took me by surprise, which doesn't often happen.
If you're looking for a great thriller/murdermystery, this trilogy stands up with the best of them. Just...maybe read all of them?
