Nadia Islam on the Record by Adiba Jaigirdar

A thoughtful, realistic MG story about journalism, faith, and family.

Pre-Reading Thoughts
I was really looking forward to this as a more grounded, realistic middle grade read — and it absolutely delivered. I also loved knowing there would be interior artwork woven into the story.

Post-Reading
As I thought…
This is a sweet, accessible, and engaging story. Nadia is curious, ambitious, and easy to root for, and the balance between her journalism goals and her Ramadan experience feels natural and age-appropriate. The artwork throughout is beautiful and adds so much warmth and personality.

It surprised me by…
How much I learned. The depiction of Ramadan, family dynamics, and life in Bangladesh is woven seamlessly into the story, making it both informative and emotionally engaging without ever feeling like a lesson.

Overall Thoughts
A realistic, heartwarming MG read that celebrates faith, family, curiosity, and community. Thoughtful and gently inspiring, this is a wonderful book for young readers — and for adults who enjoy learning alongside their stories.

Tarot Pull
🃏 Page of Pentacles (Light Seer’s Tarot) — Curiosity, learning, and small but meaningful beginnings. Nadia’s determination to grow, ask questions, and make a difference fits this card beautifully.
