The Friendship Fairies Save the Circus by Lucy Kennedy

The Friendship Fairies – sisters Emme, Holly and Jess – are excited to visit the travelling circus. But when they arrive, everything’s shut up because one of the clowns has lost his smile!

Meanwhile, the fairies’ mum is on another spy mission – to clear an infestation of Kweddies from a local warehouse. The furry creatures are so cute, she can’t resist bringing them home to visit. And that’s when Holly gets an idea ...

Can the Friendship Fairies help put a smile back on Diogo the clown’s face, and get the show back on the road?

Fairies, clowns and Kweedies. The perfect combination!

Pre Reading

Lucy Kennedy's books are immensely popular. This is the sixth in the main series, and there's two in the spin off picture books. I haven't read any of the main ones before and only one of the picture books, though I've flicked through everything here and there. I'm excited to see what it's like!

Post Reading

As I thought
This was a lot of fun! It's simple, with pages well spread out and illustrations scattered throughout. The colour palette is limited, which keeps attention on the pictures without being overwhelmed by detail. The story itself is sweet - the girls' complete acceptance of Diogo being sad just because was wonderful - but I did notice a reference to something that happened in the picture book. As they have different audiences, that might confuse a few readers. However, it's a tiny moment and most readers probably won't even notice it.

I'm looking forward to going backwards and reading the earlier books now! It's going to be great fun. For anyone who's enjoyed the earlier ones, this will be a great addition, and for anyone looking to start the series, the backstory is explained well enough to make this a good jumping on point!
