Wonders of the Wild by Éanna Ní Lamhna and Brian Fitzgerald

Nature has lots of hidden treasures. From rabbits eating their own poo to what feeds on humans and how caterpillars burst! Discover animal-eating plants, what rises from the dead, sealife that glows in the dark, and many more weird and wonderful surprises from nature.

This is a gorgeous illustrated book on Irish wildlife. Éanna's simple, conversational tone matches beautifully with Brian's illustrations, carefully drawn to be as accurate as possible. (Yes, I did skip a few pages with spiders on. It's perfectly normal!)

There's a lot of interesting stuff here, and I found myself flicking back and forth and lingering on some pages (NOT the spider ones!) It's a bit embarrassing how much of this I didn't know, but hey, I will in future.

This is a gorgeous book for any bookshelf, and I look forward to recommending it for Christmas and beyond.

Wonders of the Wild publishes on the 2nd of October, 2023. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
