First things first: I haven't read the first book in this series, but I didn't feel at all lost. I understand that the first book followed Luna's friends, with Luna a side character, and perhaps there'll be more following more of her friends.
Second: I'm not trans, though I am LGBT+, and I loved that this book gave me new perspectives to consider - I know intellectually that there are as many perspectives and ideas and points of view in the community as there are people in the community, but most stories are centred around 'triumphant coming out' or 'learning to love yourself' and it's great to have another story instead.
Third: I want a Jean-Pierre, please. Handsome, charming, polite, a little eccentric and richer than God? That'll do for me, thank you.
As a romcom, this is fairly predictable, but that's the joy of the genre (I mean that sincerely, I know tone is difficult in text!) The fun is in their interactions and in learning new things, and this book does both of those things brilliantly. I can't wait to see this as a movie. Fantastic.
