A Limerick Fairytale by Grainne O'Brien and Lena Stawowy

A fun and irreverent re-telling of the classic fairytale, Cinderella.

Once upon a time, there was a prince who was looking for some excitement. Something thrilling. The kind of life found in fairy tales. He decides he needs to find his princess, so that he can have his happily ever after. Attending a series of balls in Limerick, he finally meets Limerella! The prince is certain he's found the love of his life, but Limerella's not so sure...

Following on from Dublin and Galway, Limerick now has its very own fairytale! And just like those two, it's a cute, modern upgrade that shows off a lot of the city's highlights.

Our hero wants an old fashioned, fairytale romance, so...

In fact, he's giving three! And each time he sees Limerella. I won't give away the ending, but it's very modern and fun...I may have cheered! The illustrations are lovely, cartoony without being too unreal, and there are fantastic shots of Limerick as the king's soldiers pillage and run riot through the town. (They even throw books on the ground! It's awful.)

This is a great read and kids are really going to enjoy it. Now, roll on Kildare's fairytale! (Or Waterford's. I'm flexible.)

A Limerick Fairytale publishes on the 1st of May, 2023. I received a free copy and am giving an honest opinion.
