Sal lives in a haunted house.
He longs to be ordinary, but when the strangest of strangers arrives on his doorstep – a fellow outcast called Pax – his life grows even more complicated.
Sal goes on to develop an unlikely friendship with Pax, whose love for all things spooky drew him to the house and its inhabitants. But as the two grow closer, the true nature of the hauntings is gradually revealed.
Will Sal find the courage to conquer his ghosts, or will he risk losing Pax for good?
This is definitely the perfect book for this time of year! I don't think I've ever read a more autumn-y book.
I thought the haunted house would play a bigger part in the story, if I'm honest! This is more about the ways family can hurt and heal each other, and the importance of friends old and new in our lives. The ghosts and haunting do play a small part, but not as much as I thought it would.
This book has such cosy vibes, though! I wanted to be wrapped in a scarf, sitting in a steamy window, with a hot drink (it feels like a pumpkin spice book, but I'm not very fond of that flavour.) It definitely has that feeling, so if you're looking for something cosy and heartwarming, this is the book for you.
I can't wait to start sharing this with other readers!
The Other Ones publishes on the 13th of October, 2022. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
