The Inner Compass Deck by Teal Swan

DISCOVER YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF

This deck has a very simple yet crucial aim: to help you discover what matters most to you and allow you to live unconditionally according to those values, applying them to your work, relationships, mental health and everyday life.

Think of your honest, authentic self as true north and this values deck as your compass, guiding you to what you want to be in the world, what you want to do and how you want to go about doing it.

Life seems to go very quickly these days. It's hard to keep up with everything that's going on, and it's easy to let things slide - even important things, things we know we shouldn't be letting slide. For a lot of us, life is now work and home and not much else, especially after the last couple of years.

That's where this deck comes in. It's not an oracle deck, and it's not a tarot deck, so initially I was quite confused by it, but once I started to read the booklet I realised it's actually quite clear! The 200 cards - yes, you read that right, 200 - are divided into 4 with the cardinal directions printed on them, and 196 with various values people might find important. Every possible value I can think of is covered here, though I admit with 196 cards I may have missed a few as I flicked through! You can use them as tarot cards - pick a random card to see what value you may be neglecting - or try one of the various spreads included in the LWB to hone in on different aspects of your life.

Here are some images to give you an idea of what the deck is like:

The cards themselves are about standard tarot card size and they have a lovely smooth feeling. When I shuffled a few to get a feel for it, they moved smoothly and well over each other, no catching or stuttering. The colours on the back are bright and lovely and the image could be used as a meditation aid.

I love the idea of going through these with friends or love interests to see how compatible you are. They could also be used in various ways as writing prompts; create a character with this value, create a situation where you have to go against that value. Really the uses are endless - I can't wait to discover more! The only thing I didn't like is that there are so many cards it's very difficult to effectively shuffle them; it would have to be the 'lay them down on a table and smoosh them around' style. That's not enough to put me off using them, it's just a thing to note.

This is a wonderful set and I'm really looking forward to using the cards to get to know myself better.

The Inner Compass Deck is available now. I received a free copy and am giving an honest review.
