I'm going to be honest. I thought I remembered what had happened in the last book. When I started reading this, it turned out I didn't actually remember very much at all. This was a problem for a while, because there's no recap or 'Previously on'; occasionally Hollis thinks about things that happened before, but that's all there is. I'm sure I missed bits and pieces because I simply didn't remember them.
That aside, I enjoyed this. It's clever, it's well written, there are twists I didn't see coming. There's plenty of excitment, and I loved Hollis as a character; she's so much stronger than she thinks she is, and she had plenty of opportunity to learn it.
I also love all the froth! Kiera excells at clothes and beauty and loveliness, and that was on full display here. I'm not even really a dressy girl, but this book made me long for plunging necklaces and full skirts and diamonds to drip all over me. It's incredible, really.
This is a fabulous read and I really enjoyed it. Just try and reread the first one before you start this one!
