The Mystery Kitten by Holly Webb

Every time I read a Holly Webb book, I swear that this time I'm not going to cry. Every time, I lie.

In this book, Elsa and her father and sister have just moved into a big, old house. The house creaks and groans, and there are scratching noises. Elsa is afraid they have rats...until she discovers a tiny kitten, too young to be on his own, hiding under her bed. Elsa and Sarah want to keep him. Dad thinks they should look for the old owners. But if someone could leave such a tiny kitten behind, do they deserve to get him back?

This book is aimed at quite young children, but it's surprisingly complex. Elsa deals with concerns over moving house and starting a new school; she upsets her neighbour and makes amends; Pepper, the kitten, deals with fears because his mother and siblings vanished while he was asleep.

It's a great read and I'm sure it'll sell just as well as Holly's books always do!

When Elsa finds a kitten in the attic of their new home she names him Pepper and wants to keep him. Elsa's Dad thinks Pepper belongs to the previous owners, but who would leave behind such a beautiful kitten?

After her family moves, Elsa is finding it difficult to make new friends. Then she hears strange, scratching noises at night and discovers a kitten living in the attic! The little cat has beautiful black fur so Elsa names him Pepper. Elsa is desperate to keep her new kitten friend. Dad thinks Pepper belongs to the previous owner, but who would leave behind such a beautiful kitten?
